Stephen of Kent Unveils New Single Cash In Transit

South African multidisciplinary artist Stephen of Kent steps into 2026 with “Cash In Transit” – a bold, spiritually charged single that signals the beginning of his forthcoming project, Guluva4Himself.

More than just a release, “Cash In Transit” feels like a moment of ignition. Blending the pulse of kwaito, the grit of hip-hop, and the emotional weight of soul, Stephen continues to shape his self-coined genre, Future Kwaito – a sound rooted in South African heritage yet elevated through cinematic storytelling and global ambition. Inspired by the mindset required to pursue something bigger than yourself, the track uses the metaphor of a high-stakes cash-in-transit mission to explore risk, purpose and conviction. It captures the psychological posture needed when the pressure is real and the margin for error feels razor-thin.

“It’s a spirit anthem,” Stephen explains. “It’s about the mindset you step into when the mountain in front of you feels impossible. When the stakes are high, but you’ve already decided you’re not turning back.”

Driven by thunderous basslines, sharp lyricism and an undercurrent of urgency, the single navigates faith under pressure, ambition without apology, and the tension between survival and destiny. It reflects Stephen’s lived dualities – township and suburb, rebellion and belief – translating them into a sound that feels both grounded and aspirational. “Cash In Transit” introduces the world of Guluva4Himself, a forthcoming body of work rooted in self-determination, spiritual resilience and the courage to move with intention. Through music, visuals and cultural storytelling, Stephen is building more than a project – he is constructing a sonic journey.

Gearing up for this release, Stephen of Kent positions himself as a distinct voice shaping the next evolution of South African sound.  “Cash In Transit” is available on all streaming platforms.
