Following the success of its inaugural edition in Lagos, Nigeria and its subsequent expansion to Nairobi, Kenya, the Leading Vibe Initiative (LVI), founded by two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, producer, and songwriter Tems, is heading to South Africa. Marking its first activation in Southern Africa, the event will take place on March 21st, 2026.
Launched in August 2025, The Leading Vibe Initiative was created to support, connect, and amplify emerging women in music across Africa, with a long-term vision to scale its impact globally. The initiative addresses the persistent underrepresentation of women across the music industry, particularly female artists, songwriters, and producers – a gap that remains pronounced both on the continent and worldwide.
The inaugural Lagos edition of LVI, held over two days in August 2025, convened 20 emerging Nigerian female artists, songwriters, and producers for an immersive program centered on creative development, mentorship, and industry access, opening with an intimate launch dinner hosted by Tems. Building on its success, the Nairobi edition in September 2025 expanded LVI’s pan-African reach, bringing together East African female creatives for masterclasses, collaborative studio sessions, and panel conversations led by leading voices, and culminating in a fireside chat where Tems shared her journey and outlined LVI’s long-term vision for women in music across Africa and beyond.
“My goal with the Leading Vibe Initiative is to help support and amplify talented women who have the potential to redefine the industry,” said Tems. “By providing access, tools, and opportunity, we’re creating space for them to find their voices, step into their power, and shape the future of music across the continent and globally.” said Tems.
The South Africa edition will continue this mission, welcoming South Africa–based female artists, songwriters, and producers aged 18–35 who are looking to grow creatively and professionally. Programming will include curated sessions focused on songwriting, music production, and the business of music, alongside mentorship, networking opportunities, creative workshops, and masterclasses. Participants will learn directly from influential industry figures, with advanced music production technology provided by Native Instruments. Featured speakers and facilitators will be announced closer to the event. Applications open today and close on February 28th, 2026. Apply now HERE.
