Prior to working in music media, I would wonder why an artist would go on a hiatus of sorts. Having been exposed to the backend of the industry, I completely understand why one would take a break from music. Being an artist is not easy, and it is certainly not cheap!
“Step” opens up with a set of wonderfully placed horns that set the mood for Lucille Slade before she makes her presence felt on the song and her performance was nothing short of immaculate. She brought a level of depth and vulnerability through her songwriting. She also displays a level of maturity by being able to identify exactly when to ‘turn it on’. Her ability to use her voice to create crescendos is what makes her the artist that she is today and gives her music that magical feel. Listen to “Step” below.
