Amarii Deserves His Flowers, Man.

There’s something special happening in the kingdom, and his name is Amarii. The man is a shapeshifter in sound; versatile enough to ride any beat and still keep it soulful. Honestly, even if you threw him on a Lekompo beat, he’d still make it shebeen-smooth. That’s how fluid his artistry is.  So, ge ke le botša, le ntheleetše, Ngwana yo ke El’Pudi!

After locking into his new project, GIRL, it’s clear we’re witnessing the rise of R&B Amarii, a side of him that’s confident, emotive, and unapologetically refined. The project features 11 tracks and three collaborations: a skit from PhatZus, and features from Somandla Nigel and ILOVEMADONNA.

The opener, “Girl,” sets the tone with chilled sensuality,  smooth vocals floating over mellow production, immediately pulling you into Amarii’s world. As Africans, we often overlook our own R&B brilliance, but projects like this remind us how deep the talent runs on the continent.

My personal fave? “WAVY.” That song is a whole mood, effortless, confident, and dripping in charm. Then there’s “UR,” the single that first caught my ear weeks ago. The line “don’t worry about my exes, all I know is not a threat to you” still spins in my head; that’s grown talk, delivered with style.

Other standouts like “Never Change” and “On My Own” showcase Amarii’s emotional depth and versatility. And let’s talk about his use of skits and voice notes, it’s storytelling mastery. Each snippet feels intentional, giving the project texture and personality. It’s almost as if Amarii has a voice note for every memory, every feeling, every chapter.

GIRL is a sonic diary, a blend of heart, heartbreak, and healing, wrapped in warm melodies and soulful production. It’s the kind of R&B that reminds you music is supposed to make you feel.

So yeah, give Amarii his flowers, every single one. The man’s out here building a legacy, one vibe at a time.
