One artist that has recently come onto my radar is omgeskay, and he recently released a new offering titled genese. The tape opens with the song ‘show ya’, which displays what makes omgeskay unique – his flow. His flow is one that can be described as rapid, leaving very little between verses for the beat to breathe. A personal highlight on the tape comes on the song ‘okay!’ featuring WorldJosi. The single carries an uptempo feel that is perfectly suited for the type of performance omgeskay delivers. The presence of frequent collaborator, WorldJosi, adds a level of variety to the song.
The tape takes a welcomed downtempo turn on the song ‘private’. The song sees omgeskay deliver a performance with a level of vulnerability, and it lands well, illustrating that there is indeed potential for omgeskay to develop into a genuine songwriter in the future.
The tape ends on an emotional note with the song ‘you’. In all honesty, this is the song I connected with the most because it has the most meaningful message behind it.
