The 2025 METRO FM Music Awards set Mbombela Stadium ablaze with star power, style, and celebration as South Africa’s finest musical talents took centre stage in Mpumalanga.

Hosted by the charismatic duo Siyabonga Ngwekazi and Luthando Shosha, whose effortless chemistry lit up the stage, the event was packed with unforgettable moments and six dazzling outfit changes. The awards were broadcast live on SABC 1 and streamed via SABC+, bringing the spectacle to audiences across the nation.

The night kicked off with a powerhouse performance from vocal sensation Bassie, who wowed with high-energy choreography and commanding stage presence. Performances from Black Motion, Usimamane, Langa Mavuso, and K.O followed, offering fresh takes on some of South Africa’s most iconic tracks.
It was a big night for Bassie, whose hit Kwelanga 2.0 dominated the awards, taking home Best Music Video, Best Amapiano Song, and Best Collaboration Song. Limpopo’s very own Makhadzi was crowned Artist of the Year, cementing her place as a national treasure.

South African music legends were also honoured: TKZee received Lifetime Achievement recognition for their trailblazing work in Kwaito, while Dr. Rebecca Malope, the beloved Gospel queen, was celebrated for her enduring impact on the genre.
From heartfelt tributes to jaw-dropping performances, the 2025 MMAs were a night to remember — a celebration of heritage, excellence, and the ever-evolving power of local music.
