Rising hip hop and neo-soul force Nyota Parker has been announced as one of the performers at the 45th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, taking place from June 26 to July 5, 2025. Nyota will take the stage on July 2 at Club Montréal Loto-Québec, in what promises to be a genre-defying, soul-baring live session that blends poetic rap, powerful vocals, and boundary-pushing artistry.

This milestone marks another major step in Nyota’s international journey. Born in South Africa to Congolese and Irish heritage, and now based between Montréal and New York, Nyota has been crafting a narrative rooted in non-conformity, mental health awareness, spirituality, and self-reclamation. Since launching her music career in 2016, she’s headlined stages in Cape Town, New York, and Montréal, graced major Converse campaigns alongside Tyler the Creator and Vince Staples, and earned co-signs from icons like Timbaland.
Her most recent releases, including the hard-hitting single “SOULLESS,” showcase her lyrical precision and sonic fearlessness, qualities that continue to earn her a global following and solidify her place among this generation’s genre-breakers.
At this year’s Montreal International Jazz Fest, Nyota joins a legendary lineup that includes Nas, Thundercat, Lalah Hathaway, Ayra Starr, Madlib, Samara Joy, Esperanza Spalding, Arooj Aftab, and Trombone Shorty, among others. With the festival welcoming over two million attendees annually, this moment places Nyota shoulder-to-shoulder with a constellation of influential voices across jazz, soul, hip hop, and experimental music.

“Montréal’s been home and a launchpad,” Nyota shared. “To be invited to perform at this historic festival alongside artists I grew up studying and vibing to is surreal, humbling, and affirming. I’m pulling up with gratitude, energy, and truth.”
