Lioness Delivers a Masterpiece with “If Not In This Life”

Waking up to a new album from one of the most amazing rappers on the continent, Lioness, is always a treat. She never misses when it comes to making great music. Her latest album, If Not In This Life, is a 13-track masterpiece from the Namibian-born rapper.

It features some stellar collaborations with Kaladoshas, Cleo Ice Queen, Gazza, Willy G, Azo Nawe, Ethnix Namibia, Earthtonami, Skrypt, and Mel.

The album kicks off with a heartwarming intro, which I believe features her child’s laughter—setting a personal and intimate tone. The second track, Tic Tac, delivers a groovy vibe, effortlessly transitioning into Selecta, a banger featuring Cleo Ice Queen and Kaladoshas. Tracks like Pull Up, Funk, Oh La La, and Omapiyano round off the first half of the album, taking listeners on a musical journey. Her vocals are soothing, showcasing that Lioness is not just a rapper but a complete musician.

Few artists can fuse rap with fun, but Lioness does it effortlessly. Feel Good is my personal favorite, featuring Azo Nawe and Ethnix Namibia—it’s the perfect balance of good vibes and lyrical excellence. Other standout tracks like Yale and Alive add a danceable groove to the mix.

The final three songs, Never Won (featuring Earthtonami), See You Again (featuring Skrypt), and Fame (featuring Mel), are where Lioness truly shines as a rapper. Her flow, breath control, and lyrical precision are exceptional. She delivered what I would call a masterpiece.

Give this album some time—it hooked me by the second listen. If you’re a fan of good music, compelling storylines, and pure rap talent, you’ll definitely enjoy this. Check out the album and let us know what you think!
