Illythehost took some time to handle the interview with him, the Name is Nose, and how to check up on his progress and everything he has been up to.

For those who are not familiar with your pen and your music, who is Nose?

Nose is a recording artist who expresses himself through raps in this vast culture we call Hip Hop an emcee from a place called Bothashoek in a town called Burgersfort

Who introduced you to Hip-Hop and who are some of the rappers you were looking up to when growing up?

My big brother and my older cousin introduced me to music in general but part of it was Hip Hop which I gravitated to it more and rappers I looked up to growing up was Nas, Common, Eminem, Pac it’s a long list so those are the famous ones

Just tell us a bit about Burgersfort and the hip-hop movement that side of the country.

Burgersfort is a dope town in Limpopo versatile with different types of people a town that is exceedingly growing right now surrounded by all types of opportunities and the Hip Hop movement is crazy and real for it caters to any form of Hip Hop style one can have, the passion is on 1000% from videos , social media presence, shows, organizations dedicated to Hip Hop which we can still do more but I’m really proud of my hometown

And who are some of the artists you feel like the country should check them out especially from your township?

Well 1st me Nose, you got rappers like Turm, Oz, Slunky, Dizz, Actual League, Fess, Tylin K, Fubu, Skopa, Sunflame, PK, Slabsta CrossMlilo, Paris there’s a lot bro and I’m trying my best to get everyone in there but that’s who I got in my head right now

You have been making music for some quite long time now, what are some of the obstacles you came across during those times?

Well I’d say lack of support you are cause of no association to some people or certain groups, like getting access to a studio was a hassle at the beginning coz you’d display talent and some dudes didn’t like that so they’d withhold access saying you got to sign stuff and you’re like bro it’s me and you here and a big one is breaking into the industry even when you are surrounded by people in it.

What have been some of the greatest moments in your rap career?

Well I’d say some few like performing on a big stage at a youth day event, winning lyricist of the year in the local awards event but till today the best moments are between the start and finish of making a song, to create something that might affect people’s emotions, opinions and vibe is something that made me love music more and always gets me excited to create regardless people hear it or not that’s precious moments for me man

What inspires you to make music?

The fact that as we speak nothing exists and maybe after talking, I hit the booth because of our conversation and create something new, like from now till then nothing exists and ours later something exists, for me that’s the drive that I get to create new things man I love this gift God has given us

What is your writing process like?

Well my process is that I come up with a concept and then start by thinking of the end before the beginning and then I think of rhyme patterns and then get the words in there,  then write the lines according to the pattern while thinking of a punchline or a metaphor or story or point I’m trying to get through and then I have the foundation to keep building to the ending.

So, which comes 1st? The idea/concept or the beat?

With me it can be beat 1st or concept 1st , but mostly it’s the beat that gives me the vibe and inspiration and how the beat sounds gives me the concept and then sometimes I have a concept and then I write it down and as soon as someone send me the beat I’m like that will fit the concept I had before I still got concept that I haven’t found the beat for as we speak like years of certain ideas.

I know many fans and people would love to be a fly on the wall in studio sessions can you give us a light on how it’s like?

Studio sessions are dope, fascinating thrilling and draining sometimes coz you’re not getting what you want, like doing so many takes or realizing that the script got to change a bit or the delivery is not working out then you have to really put in work but the results are amazing though but sometimes it’s like climbing a mountain but sometimes it’s just flowing so amazingly that you don’t want to leave that space.

What convinces you that a song is fully finished?

Dang sometimes I’m not even convinced, though the song is amazing, and it’s liked but I know when I feel like I can perform this song without being irritated by it.

You have a concept which been going for years during your birthday month, are we getting something this November again?

I’ll see if I will do something I don’t like to force things because of tradition but I might do something but I’m not promising at all

Currently what are you working on and when can we expect it (if it’s an album/EP)

I’m done with EP called FLOAT which will drop in August 2024 the exact date is not settled yet still clearing things
