It all started with a listening session at Rocket in Menlyn, where hip-hop fans and friends of Jay Jody gathered to support him at his listening party. The night kicked off with DJ Clen warming up the crowd with a set before Jay Jody took over the deck and mic, calling on his featured artists to join him on stage. A-Reece, Blaklez and Ginger Trill also delivered their verses on the project.
The first track, “Hands of Time,” showcased Jay Jody’s lyrical skills, while Michael Tuohy’s contribution added to the banger feel of the song. The crowd was hyped, and the second track, “B!tch Im Good,” featuring A-Reece, was equally impressive. Ginger Trill also delivered a verse that left the audience in awe on “Rollin’ Loud in Quiet Place,” and Blaklez’s verse on “Out of my head” was also a standout moment.
The project consists of eight tracks that you can easily relate to, with each song touching on real-life experiences. “The Cycle,” featuring Nyota Parker’s amazing vocals, is a song that will eventually grow on you. Jay Jody’s pen game is unique, and “Inside” is a well-written, featureless track where he poured his heart and delivered a powerful performance.
