Get ready to feast your eyes on the latest music video from YoungstaCPT and Shaney Jay for their fan-favourite track ‘Benni McCarthy’. This visual masterpiece is the second collaboration project from the duo’s ‘Suffer for Beauty’ album, which dropped in early March.
The duo was inspired by their fans’ love for the song and decided to bless them with an unforgettable tribute to the South African football legend, Benni McCarthy. The video was shot by Mzi Xander and captures some of the important moments in Benni’s career, including his birthplace of Hanover Park and some of the football successes he had enjoyed.
YoungstaCPT also pays his respects to the passing of AKA with behind-the-scenes footage of their 2019 music video ‘Main Ous’, which was filmed near Benni’s childhood home. The video also showcases Ocean View, where YoungstaCPT spent time with his grandparents, highlighting the humble beginnings and making dreams a reality.
The video was shot at Athlone Stadium, a cultural landmark in the coloured community where Benni also played in his early years. The homegrown aspect is strong in the visuals, with resident Shaney Jay also making an appearance.
