AKA Officially Discontinues Cruz Vodka Bottles

In an intimate affair, multi-award winning rapper AKA commemorated the end of his 6 year long partnership with Cruz Vodka. Friends and family gathered at the Rocket’s Lolita restaurant in Bryanston to celebrate with Supa Mega at his “The Last Summer” event.

“We’re here today to pay homage and recognise the partnership between myself and Cruz Vodka. The reason why we’re calling this the last summer is because it marks an amicable end to the production of Cruz Watermelon & Banana Deluxe bottles.” shared AKA.

If you’ll remember earlier in the year, Cruz Vodka shared a lengthy statement detailing the outcome of discussions between AKA and the Cruz management team. The discussions came after AKA revealed to the brand his ambition to create his own spirit brand with the Cruz management team.

Speaking on the game changing partnership, AKA confidently boosted about his impact on the Cruz Vodka brand. “I’m not going to claim that I am the first celebrity to partner with an alcohol brand but I think what we managed to do was take it to heights that a lot of people never thought we could. With that being said, no idea is original so I want to give a shout-out to the late, great Linda Mkhize (also known as Pro Kid) because if there was no Fish Eagle there would not be AKA Cruz Vodka either. ”

I can’t say Cruz Vodka was nothing before me but it definitely wouldn’t be what it is today without me. – AKA

Talking Numbers

In a lengthly speech AKA claimed to have sold over 1.2 Million bottles of Watermelon & Banana Cruz Vodka which equates to an estimated R200 – R300 million worth of turn over for Cruz Vodka’s holding company Distell. In celebration of the huge achievement AKA awarded himself a plague for his monumental accomplishment. He later proclaimed that Cruz Banana Deluxe & Cruz Watermelon has gone 90 times platinum. The rapper closed off the award ceremony by bestowing his friends with plagues for their contribution to his 2 time platinum hit Lemons (Lemonade).

In attendance were hip-hop veterans DJ Capital, DJ Milkshake, DJ Speedsta and L-Tido. In true Hip-Hop style, guests come through in the freshest kicks. Check out our Shoe Cam from last night’s event.
