Kendrick Lamar is out in Ghana reportedly filming a music video and connecting with the masses.
Shortly after the release of Kendrick Lamar’s first album in five years, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, photos of the Compton lyricist in Ghana surfaced on the internet. He was seen taking snaps with fans at a skate park in the first series of images. Later followed pictures of him at the beach and eventually a video clip of him playing soccer. In some photos, he is posing with rapper and Top Dawg Entertainment executive Punch. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is Kendrick’s last album on the label.

According to Pulse Ghana, Kendrick was spotted filming some scenes of his music videos at the Laboma beach in Teshie. The website reported that Kendrick had been seen signing autographs and mingling with the masses.
The rapper also managed to mix with some of Ghana’s top musicians during Spotify’s Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers party.

Kendrick released the first music video from Mr. Morale on Friday for “N95”, a song where Kendrick criticises the responses to Covid-19 and asks questions about values and purpose beyond mundane materialism. The music video is as dramatic as any Kendrick video and makes use of unorthodox locations and shots to make its point.

Kendrick’s visual game is among the best in not just hip-hop but the whole of popular music, and one can’t help but get curious about what he’s cooking in Ghana. Mystery and unpredictability go hand in hand with Oklama.
