Blank started in the year 2016 as a side hustle to get extra pocket money by selling plain baseball caps and eventually branded caps too. The big break came when I was able to supply my High school (Hoerskool Birchleigh) with branded caps for the school. Late 2016, I decided to change the name from Antidote Panda to something easier without too much meaning yet says a lot, something with four-five letter words like Nike, Adidas etc. and that’s how the name blank came about. In the very same year, I decided to take the business to a bigger market and started designing bomber jackets and finally caught my biggest recognition that put me on the map when Scoop Makhatini saw the Blank Instagram of a yellow jacket with the panda and posted on his Instagram page.
He also went on to buying from us in early 2017 to wear on Turn Up Channel O which got Blank a lot more exposure, then Khanyi Mbau started buying from us and the rest is history. Blank went on to bigger heights and we even landed a feature in the Mercedes Benz x AFI Fashion Week in 2017 as well as supplied five schools with Matric Jackets. 2019 we had a solo fashion show sponsored by Kulture Kollective and won 011 Clothing Brand of The Year.
2020 was one of the biggest years for Blank: where we had a collaboration with Reebok; won ASEAWARDS CLOTHING BRAND OF THE YEAR and had a pop-up store in Cape Town from the 12th of December.
