Last week Friday rapper and music producer ZULO dropped off his new (lead) single called ‘Portals’ with some visuals too. This new single is said to appear on his upcoming EP called Talk to Me Naace. ‘Portals’ is further said to mark ZULO’s return to contemporary hip-hop, following his 2019 genre-bending EP called Don’t Take Me for a P!, as well as the debut single credited under his new stage name since abandoning his 14-year alias Lil Trix in 2020.
The song itself is quite good as it finds ZULO really showing off this new level & chapter that he is currently going through… From production to the overall lyrical delivery, ‘Portals’ is a solid entry song to usher in what’s to come. The visuals were directed by Ntando Butho who absolutely killed it when to comes to visually capturing the energy that the song portrays. The outcome of this also comes after ZULO went through life-changing moments which he briefly shares on social media and we can feel that on this drop.
“I wanted to make a song that embraced my journey and still welcomed the “new”…” – ZULO mentions on a recent post
