Last month Nike dropped off the two-tone (Syracuse University inspired) Dunk High “Syracuse” that comes with a white base highlighted by an “Orange Blaze’ upper that features a pierced toe box and Swoosh set onto the sides. And to complete the design, printed insoles with “NIKE” tags on the mesh tongue are present as well as a distinctive sole unit.
HYPE got a chance to have a closer look at these 2021 Nike Dunk “Syracuse” sneakers and we had hip hop trailblazer Blxckie come through as our source of inspiration or model throughout the whole experience. During our time with him, we threw a couple of Q’s at him as well because why not?

Who is Blxckie?
Somnyama aka Sihle Sithole, a 21-year-old musician from Durban, and I produce songs & rap. All right that’s Blxckie.
What goes through your mind when you think of Purpose?
Purpose? With me, when I think purpose I think about the people linked to me and what I do… And yeah, how it affects them and how it helps them you know, in the future, as far as progress that’s basically my purpose.
Who or what is Blxckie’s North Star or guiding star that helps you get things back on track?
All the pictures and boys, just joking… I go to Durban a lot, I go to my mama and to the farms. Do some farm work, that type of vibe and I think of my parents… I mean, I always find time, like every month to go there and see and just get back to the level you know?
What goes through your mind when you think of the word “DUNK”?
Dunk… Yo! Issa a lot. I used to play basketball in high school. You see? Yeah, I just think of all those days, and just like practicing getting pushed to the limit to be the best in that aspect because I wasn’t really a basketball brother until got to like grade 10 or something. So yeah, that’s what I think of “Dunk”, just pushing yourself to the limit in the shortest amount of time to get the biggest.
What does Nike mean to you?
I mean how many ads do they have that’s just based on “Keep Going”, you know? Don’t stop and that type of vibe. So that’s what I think of the swoosh, to keep going, once you have something.
