Dibi has just dropped off a new “Cassper Nyovest” influenced freestyle that has him spitting over Cassper’s ‘Nokuthula’ hit-record. This new release is said to have been inspired by a Cassper tweet that read – “…We finally have a chance to take over Africa if we work together. Piano has a chance to do what SA hip-hop was supposed to do had it not been for yall egos & the envy yall poisoned your hearts with.”
That tweet, of course, sparked some debate within SA hip-hop culture and instead of diving into the politics of such topics, Dibi decided to come out and remind Cassper of his impact on hip-hop by showing that the future is in bright hands. In the freestyle, Dibi not only pays homage to Cassper through the instrumental used but he pays homage to the star with a video inspired by Cassper’s ‘Tsibip’ music video.
When I bumped Any Minute Now, ‘Nokuthula’ stood out for me, mainly because of how he blended the drill vibe with a local flavor. When I came across the beat on the net, I wanted to add my own sauce too. I have mad respect for Cass and the idea to recreate the “Tsibip” video was my way of saluting him.” – Dibi
