ASAP[Aba Sindiswe Aba pheli] Shembe has just released his sincere & self-introspective debut album Amarekere. The newly released album was initially accompanied by his 4 track Insila Ep released in January.

“I felt it was necessary for me to release Insila before I released my album because there were internal conflicts I had to overcome and Insila was the perfect setup for me to initiate having those honest conversations with myself and the fans of my music career,”- ASAP Shembe

Amarekere is an 11 song pilgrimage with 7 of the songs produced solely by ASAP Shembe assisted by 2 production credits from Soweto based & frequent collaborator xSipping on the Intro song ‘uBani’ and ‘Kamalandela’. The only features on the album can be heard on the songs ‘Belala mina´ which sees contributions from Fireman_R5 & Enkei.

Not steering too far from a sound we’ve been accustomed to, we witness ASAP Shembe return to his traditional genre-bending sound of bringing obscure, industrial textures layered with traces of his African roots, complemented with modern touches of trap elements. Amarekere’ sees ASAP Shembe invite the listener into his roller-coaster world of intimate fearless storytelling, leaving no stoned left unturned throughout the album’s journey.
