Meet Jax Colorado: Our Very Own Country Trapper

Allow us to introduce to you “Jax Colorado”, a rapper  and a songwriter from Pretoria who initially gained recognition as a rapper on his come-up in the early stages of his career by performing at schools, talent shows, open mic events and local clubs. But after realizing his potential and the passion he had for music, he then started taking his recording sessions seriously in 2011 and did a number of records which improved his song writing skills and led to a compilation of songs, which were released later online in 2013.

And as he continued to build his profile on the come up, he was fortunate enough to record alongside the legendary “DJ Sisco” from Multi-Racial Records” in Pretoria Hatfield. One of the highlight of his career was performing at the “National State Theater of South Africa” in 2013. He went on to scout for competitions and entered for the sprite “freestyle” challenge in 2014 at Back-To-The-City in Johannesburg. As time went on Jax Colorado was approached by Nokia ambassadors’ to capture his lifestyle in a 16bar verse on the spot in the streets of Braamfontein in 2014.

Keeping in mind that he’s from Pretoria, it was destined for him to secure a platform and perform at “The Social Market” at “012 Central Pretoria” in 2015. Another highlight was in 2016 when Jax Colorado opened for “The Social Market C.E.O” Maitele Wawe and Okmalumkoolkat. Early 2017, he became a residential Hip Hop artist at Club Tennessee Hatfield, Pretoria. Jax Colorado got scouted by “Hunters” to be part of the “Start Something” music competition which got him his first radio play on “Metrofm” and gave him a platform to open for AKA, Cassper Nyovest and Okmalumkoolkat. Late 2018 he performed at the Unplugged Sessions hosted by “Tswe Media” and opened for Pretoria’s very own Hip Hop sensation Blaklez. While emerging in his town ‘Montana” with popular songs like ‘4am In Montana’ and ‘Bacardi’ to name a few, he then scored an opportunity to open for another Pretoria’s very own hip hop young King A-Reece at club Cofi in Brooklyn. Jax Colorado draw’s his music influence from his daily life experiences as an up and coming artist, which is also portrayed through his clothing style. For Jax Colorado it has never been about music only but about inspiring the Youth to follow their dreams and be authentic without fear of the public’s opinion.
