Chaka Khan Says Kanye West’s ‘Through The Wire’ Sample Was Stupid [Watch]

Chaka Khan recently visited the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen show as a guest and revealed that she is actually not a fan of Kanye West’s ‘Through The Wire’ song. Kanye broke out in 2003 with that singe which has now become a classic. The song featured a sample of Chaka Khan’s 1984 song ‘Through The Fire’ and at the end of the ‘Through The Wire’ video, Kanye delivered a thank you message to the legendary singer. It’s been over 15 years later and the Queen of Funk voiced about how she doesn’t mess with it.

She also claimed that her conversations with Kanye went “very differently than how the song turned out,” at that time and pointed out how upset she was with how ‘Through The Wire’ pitches up her sampled vocals.

“I was pissed… It was a little insulting. Not insulting, I thought it was stupid. If I’d known he was gonna do that, I would have said, ‘Hell no.” – Chaka Khan
