Following the launch of Converse’s first style-driven expression of the ERX this Fall, Converse and Don C release a second head-to-toe capsule featuring five ERX executions. Fascinated by the ERX through his own personal memories of the silhouette and love of the sport, Don C continues to leverage the 80’s silhouette’s cross-cultural, on and off court adoption, and remasters it for the present. The collection play host to two juxtaposing ideals, “Animal” and “Metal”, crafted in unison and born from Don C’s encyclopedic knowledge of basketball and his modern streetwear design ethos. Constructed to bring style to the forefront of function, the ERX boasts a renewed EVA midsole,
while the upper – with all its panels – and rubber cupsole mirror the originals from the 1980s.
The “Animal” pack celebrates the innate rivalry between predator and prey through the ERX 260 Mid. Crafted in two classic leather colorways (black and white), the silhouettes are accented with wild animal prints, a signature execution of Don C’s. Each sneaker also comes with two lace sets, embellishing the print on each sneaker’s heel overlay. The “Metal” pack offers three additional distinct ERX 260s in contrasting color palettes, derived from the glam metal era. The craze, which developed at the convergence of 80s punk rock and
pop genres, transformed the subculture’s styles into a new trend that helped define the time. Each ERX plays host to an assortment of multi-sized studs and distinct inflections that further elevate the silhouette through the lens of modern streetwear. Each is also adorned with an oversized “CONS” logo print on the tongue, lighting bolt graphics and multiple lace options. The ERX Animal VS Metal Packs is available in South Africa at Converse Stores for R1799,95. The ERX Animal Pack will be also available at Shelflife and the ERX Metal
Pack at Jack Lemkus.
