Thousands of festival goers, curious socials and music lovers braved the rainy JHB weather to come together at Constitutional Hill in Johannesburg, South Africa on the 30th and 31st of December to ring in the New Year at the second AFROPUNK JHB festival.
The two-day festival hosted an array of international and local musical acts; from Kaytranada, The Internet, Thundercat, Thandiswa Mazwai, Flying Lotus, Kwesta, Moon Child, YoungstaCPT, FAKA and Dope Saint Jude to name a few.
Martell Cognac offered various unique experiences, for the second year running which was designed to transform the conventional festival experience for the festival goes that stopped by the House of Martell Experience – branded H.O.M.E, for short at the festival.
Festival goers who stopped by Martell H.O.M.E experienced a multi-level playground-for-adults which included an exclusive elevated deck which provided a winning view of the main stage and pulsating action while bespoke cocktails and innovative Martell-infused foods were on offer. Those who entered the Martell H.O.M.E got to explore and share their own muso-ventures; battling it out in Martell’s authentic gaming arcade; and, got to make their mark alongside specially commissioned graffiti art.
For refreshment, festival goers could experience Martell’s diverse expressions which were on offer alongside signature cocktails like the Martell Side Car and the Rooibos Kicker made with the newly launched VSOP aged in Red Barrels. This year Martell H.O.M.E offered a three-course, sit-down food-and-Martell pairing dinner which was hosted by charismatic Martell Lifestyle Brand Ambassador, Hussain Van Roos.
