During SA Fashion Week, Dickies, made its own statement on the opening night of the proceedings. A large group of SAFW attendants arrived dressed head to toe in Dickies apparel. The brand was not showing a collection at the event but rather saw this as an opportunity to make a street style statement, gorilla style.
The stunt caused a stir amongst the usual fashion week crowd as photographers and guests alike, snapped
shots of the Dickies squad. The brand seemed to be marking its place amongst the runway regulars, and owned
its new held space with pride.
The Dickies brand has built its place in South Africa over the past few decades. Starting as the choice brand on
the streets, it has now evolved into so much more. An American brand with its roots in workwear dating back to
1922, Dickies has now been adopted by Braamfontein’s elites in street style, cementing its place in the heart of
the city amongst the ever-growing youth culture.
Dickies, has come a long way from the township streets to now being on the front row at SA Fashion Week. The
brand seems to have a lot lined up for the short time that is left in 2018, so keep your eye on Dickies because
we have a feeling that this is just the beginning.
