It’s said that the key to staying relevant in a forever changing industry, is to ensure that you stay consistent, this saying has become synonyms with SOLO and The BETR Gang band members. Having released their ‘Tour Dates’ album in January 2018 with 14 phenomenal features, to kick off an 8 week residency at the AGOG Gallery in Maboneng, Johannesburg, Solo & THE BETR GANG have not disappointed by putting on a brand new show every week featuring special guests from the album as well as other industry heavyweights.
At the Grand Finale of their 8 week residency recently, Solo and The BETR Gang announced their new EP titled ‘des DATES de TOURNEE’ (Tour Dates – France Edition), which is the 3rd offering from the digital hip hop band. The 5 track EP is due for digital release on Friday, 08 June 2018. This announcement comes as a surprise to fans & media of this ever evolving hip hop quartet. The residency started off as usual last Thursday, with a DJ set to welcome those in attendance whilst guests grabbed their drinks and made their way up to the 1st floor of the captivating art gallery. In true Solo and The BETR Gang style, there was no way that the grand finale could end without a slight twist. Solo revealed not only the new EP, but art director and band member, ‘Solid The Gifted’ gave everyone insight into the mesmerizing artwork & its origins through expressionist influence from the original art piece by renowned French artist, Edgar Degas (1834-1917)
“The ‘Little Dancer of Fourteen Years’ was quite a controversial piece, as many peoples views on the sculpture were unfavourable. Many believed it lacked conventional beauty, was ugly and depraved. This piece became the base on how this project was threaded.” – Solo
