HISTORY OF THE NIKE HUARACHE

The Nike Huarache is one sneaker that the sneaker world has to thank Tinker Hatfield for. A timeless piece of Nike art is what it is and as far as its history goes; these sneakers go way back to 1991. Nike willfully scaled back the Swoosh treatment to create something that could better laze on the praise of its technology. That technology was one that actually was in danger of not even making it to retail at one point during the production phase. The legend goes that the Nike brand was tired of bringing the model back to market, but a test run sold at the NYC Marathon in the 90s had running athletes screaming for the model and it was in turn given the go ahead. And from that day on, the “water-skiing” inspired sneaker couldn’t be held back any longer.
