African music has grown tremendously over the past year especially in SA. And it was only fit that we all came together at the MAMA nomination party to recognize those who stood out in 2014/2015.
The nominees for Best Male act category are AKA (South Africa), Davido (Nigeria), Diamond (Tanzania) and Sarkodie (Ghana). And judging from social media Cassper fans aren’t too happy that the platinum selling artist wasn’t nominated. nontheless K.O and Cassper were both nominated for Best Hip Hop Artist alongside Phyno (Nigeria),Olamide (Nigeria) and Youssoupha (DRC).
Cassper leads in South African artist nominations scooping a total of three including: Best Newcomer, Best Hip-Hop Artist and Best Song of the Year.
Our very own March/April cover boy Riky Rick scored a nod in the Video of The Year category for the hit single ‘Nafukwa’ off his new album Family Values. Levels rapper AKA scored himself a second nomination for his hit single ‘All Eyes On Me’ ft Burna Boy, JR and Da L.E.S in the Best Collaboration category.
The MTV African Music Awards will take place on Saturday the 18th of July in Durban.
