Cassper Nyovest is at it again and challenging what some people would regard as impossible. Cassper wants to become the very first local hip hop artist to fill up The Dome venue, located at Northgate Mall.
According to Cassper the venue hosts 20 00 people, which is quite ambitious for any local hip hop production given that Back to the City is the biggest and is said to pull around 15,000 people. The venue is commonly used for exhibitions and conventions like Barney the Dinosaur (seriously) and the annual hair convention, as well as music shows for international acts. Those have included 50cent, Akon, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott and many more over the years.
Before you count Cassper out, let’s all remember that he has pretty much achieved the impossible already, more than once. His reach is not arguable; winning voting based awards against artists from other genres time and time again. He has an impressive social media following, a million views on two videos and known in every corner of the country (and beyond). He is also the rap artist in many years to sell over 50,000 albums.
He began his campaign on Twitter yesterday, using #FillUpTheDome and will be promoting his venture with radio and TV interviews. The rest of the details are unknown for now.
Do you think Cassper’s goal is achievable?
