Ever so often, SA hip hop artists ditch their personas (but clearly not their shades) and do something genuinely cool for the cause
Doro Mega AKA, Da Les and Naija’s Burna Boy recently came together to go visit a charity for underprivileged little girls. The A-Team, as they call themselves, decided to join forces with Orphanage Campaign Africa & Female Shelter, a campaign which started in 2004 aimed at bringing hope to young girls in Hillbrow.
The trio interacted with the overjoyed girls
Before they bounced and headed off to handle their own missions, Burna decided to gift one of the kids his gold chain as a special gesture. AKA, Les and Burna also to donated 20k to the home.
One always wonders if artists plan when they are going to give jewelry away so that they wear they’re cheapest bezzle on the day. In November Cassper Nyovest casually gave away his Rolex to a member of the crowd at Maftown Heights during his performance. Either these are carefully planned stunts or the rest of us are in the wrong business.
Not taking anything away from the A-Team’s good deed, we salute them for giving us something positive to report on! Good job boys!
