Over the weekend the Billboard Music Awards took place in Las Vegas with Justin Timberlake taking home the most awards – 7 to be exact – while the highlight of the night had to be a Michael Jackson hologram for his track ‘Slave To The Rhythm’. Jackson’s first posthumous album, which features Timberlake, was released a week ago, cementing his place as the King of Pop (sorry Biebs, lay of the sizzurp).
With rap in the house courtesy of Ludacris MC’ing the show, Eminem dominating all hip hop related categories, taking home the honours for Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Album, beating out the likes of Drizzy, Jigga, Pitbull (thank you Lord), J.Cole and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (thank you more Lord – although they did win Top Rap Song for ‘Can’t Hold Us’).
If he wasn’t already having the year of his life, Pharell Williams took home several awards including Top Hot 100 Song and Top R&B Song for ‘Blurred Lines’ along with T.I and crooner Robin Thicke (who thanked his wife Paula Patton amidst their public separation and his more public campaign to get her back).
