Unstoppable and undeniable, AKA and Da.L.E.S, seem to be having the time of their lives with the extraordinary success just off their two singles ‘Kontrol’ and ‘Heaven’. Not only have they earned and won multiple awards for them, but their buzz is just uncontainable over the past year. Joining the line up this year at the revered CTIJF, they will take to stage alongside others which include The Mike Rossi Project: Trespassing Permitted; The Blue Notes Tribute Orkestra; Bokani Dyer & Kyle Shepherd; Mathew Gold; Mi Casa; The Shape of Strings to Come: Jimmy Dludlu (featuring Alvin Dyers, Richard Ceasar and Saudiq Khan, with C-Base Collective); and, The Worcester Secondary School Band.
On an international scale the festival will also see live sets by Abdullah Ibrahim and Ekaya; Andreya Triana (UK); Kirk Whalum “The Gospel According To Jazz Africa” Chapter I ; Frank Paco Art Ensemble (Mozambique); Lalah Hathaway (USA); Level 42 (UK); Moh Dediouf (Senegal); Randy Weston’s African Rhythms Trio (USA); Shakatak (UK); Tasha’s World (The Netherlands); Tizer Quintet(USA).
The festival takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 28-29 March. Tickets are on sale from www.computicket.com and go for R795 for a weekend pass and R490 for a day pass.
