This time the 36-year-old rapper has directed his anger towards the Recording Academy officials. Ye isn’t pleased at all that he got only two Grammy nominations for Yeezus, because the album has been a chart success.
He told a crowd during one of his concerts: “I’m 36 years old and I have 21 Grammys. That’s the most Grammys for any 36-year-old. Out of all those 21 Grammys, I’ve never won a Grammy against a white artist. So when the Grammy nominations come out and Yeezus is the top one or two album on every list, but only gets two nominations from the Grammys, what are they trying to say?”
“F*ck those nominations! It’s only patronising. Don’t patronise me. I would have rather had no nominations”.
Kanye is in the running for Best Rap Album for his sixth album, Yeezus – a tight category he shares with Jay-Z, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – and Best Rap Song for “New Slaves”.
With Yeezus having received rave reviews from critics, it is patently obvious that Kanye – who calls himself a creative genius – expected to be nominated for the most prominent categories like the Album of the Year, which is being vied for by Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Sara Bareilles, and Daft Punk.
His rant follows another incident on Sunday where he kicked a female fan out of his concert for asking him to take off the mask he was wearing.
