After the ending of Kanye’s deal with Nike (and the start of the new Kanye deal with Adidas), Drake was given a deal to partner up with the Nike Jordan brand. He surprisingly announced the new venture during his “Would You Like A Tour?” show that took place in Portland (also coincidentally being Nike’s headquarter state).
“Today also happens to be one of the best days of my life. Growing up, I’m sure we all idolized this guy, he goes by the name of Michael Jordan. So today, I came to Portland and officially became inducted into the Team Jordan family.” Drake
Drake has stepped up to design for the Nike Jordan brand, but this however could easily be recognized as a predictable move for Drizzy, moving into the design industry, as Drake has previously made progress into the fashion world as a consultant with the NBA team the “Toronto Raptors” and revealed that part of that deal would include the launching of a clothing line.
Two years ago, he put out a limited run of varsity jackets for the team through his OVO line and even found himself lashing out on clothing lines launched without his awareness and consent, emblazoning clothing with slogans such as the classic “YOLO.”
It’s definitely Drizzy season and with that comes the excitements of seeing what more Drake can do and on whether he’s following Kanye’s footsteps or simply just competing for the throne. All we can do is wait…
