Adidas SA (@adidas_za) are at it again. This time, from 06 July to 06 August 2013, the brand’s local home turf, AREA3, in Maboneng Precinct will host the highly acclaimed photography exhibition, “15 Years of Gonz and adidas”, featuring the work of six prominent photographers.
The exhibition documents adidas’ 15 year relationship with the man considered to be the father of modern street skating – Mark Gonzales – commonly known amongst his peers and fans as ‘Gonz’ or ‘The Gonz’.
For those of ya’ll that aren’Gonz has been a member of the adidas Skateboarding family for 15 years. His imaginative and spontaneous style was one of the main founding forces of street skateboarding and today still turns the inconceivable into reality. Not only is Gonz an incredibly dope skater, but his everyday life could be considered an art form in its own right. He also delves into fine art, poetry and videography and you can expect to see all these elements incorporated in pieces of the exhibition.
