Grammy nominees 2013- Nas gets the nod and Jay & Kanye lead the pack

The frontrunners of next year’s Grammy Awards Rap category, with six nominations each, are Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Fun and Mumford & Sons. Nas got four nods for his masterpiece Life Is Good.

The Best Rap Album is once again a hotly contested with Drake, Lupe Fiasco, 2Chainz, Rick Ross, The Roots and Nas getting the nod. My money is between the Roots or Nasty Nas to take it. And a sidenote to the Grammy committee, I hope ya’ll show respect to the Rap category next year, the fact you didn’t broadcast it live this year was a slap in the face.

Moving on swiftly, Frank Ocean has lived up to the hype this year. After coming out the closet, with many fearing an end to his career before it even started he proved critics wrong, with the Odd Future member scooping six nominations that included; Best New Artist, Song Of The Year and Album Of The Year amongst others.

Despite her recycled album Nicki Minaj didn’t get any nominations, I take it the citizens including the committee didn’t take kindly to her exorcism stunt then. The award ceremony will be broadcast on 10 February 2013. Head here for the full nominees list.
