I believe Hip Hop speaks to one’s soul. If it doesn’t touch you, then you shouldn’t be listening to it.
Personally, artists such as CommonSense, Mos Def, 9th Wonder, Kev Brown, Nas, Lauryn Hill, 2Pac, Slum Village, MC Lyte and such have for years been doing the best job of producing good Hip Hop.
In our day though, that movement has taken a major turn. As a listener I feel most artists produce records just for the sake of it, no one takes their time any longer….
It would seem Hip Hop has taken the Electro/Pop route these days, obviously this being the ‘in-thing’ that sells. However, will this trend last? Has the music scene slightly lost direction?
Old School Hip Hop will forever remain close to the hearts of Hip Hop fans, they just don’t make ‘em like they used to anymore.
The LOVE for HIP HOP still remains…
