Japan takes top honors at the DMC World DJ Finals!

The 29th annual DMC World DJ Finals held in London last weekend were more electrifying than ever! 30 DJs competed for the ultimate DJ title in arguably the biggest DJ competition on the globe. The competitors were from all around the world, and SA was proudly represented by DJ Codax from Cape Town. Ultimately it was DJ Izo of Japan who took home the top prize, with DJ Precision from the US in second place and the UK’s Ritchie Ruftone coming in third.

After battling it out with Canada, USA, UK and France, the crowd seemed to favour the Japanese deck master, chanting his name repeatedly when he was proclaimed the winner. His props were long overdue, as he was crowned second in 2011. It was clear he came with his A game this year and didn’t disappoint, awarded a Rane Sixty Two mixer that is customized with gold plating. Next year’s World Champs, which also marks the prestigious event’s 30th anniversary, will take place in Paris. Something even more special is that they’re launching an online ‘Golden Mic’ competition so rappers get ready! As for DJ Codax – standing ovation to you. You did our country proud!
