She writes, sings and is even a self taught composer and while she may be the new kid on the block, Rowlene’s captivating voice and writing is what sets her apart from other musicians & puts her in a class of her own.
Ask her when she knew she was a singer, and the one-named performer will tell you she has been singing for as long as she can remember. Born in Cape Town, Rowlene has been on her musical journey since high school and now, under the guidance of Nasty C’s manager Zyne Marcus, her pie-in-the-sky dream is manifesting into reality.
“I had a lot of support growing up,” – Rowlene
The godsent on Nasty C’s emotive closing track ‘Phases’ off Bad Hair attributes the collaboration ‘Dance With You’ to a chance encounter when Boss Zonke heard one of her tracks at the studio and expressed a keen interest in laying down a verse or two. And while that debut album isn’t out yet, she’s gunning for a mid-2017 release and says that the album will feature a perfection combination of R&B, Pop and Raggae-soul, a mix that complements her unique voice.
